Cyprus Granfondo: A perfect combination of a bike vacation with a 3-days stage race
During the last weekend of March, the traditional Cyprus Granfondo in Paphos is a perfect opportunity for riders to work on their cycling condition and benefit from the warm temperatures and hospitality of this holiday destination in the Mediterranean Sea.
In the 28.6km time trial on Friday March 29th, riders have a first upgoing part towards a turning point to return back over the same road slightly going down to finish back next to the startline.
The next day, the 103km queen stage of this three days stage race leaves from the Paphos castle in a 15km neutralized start before the race really opens. Three major climbs of 8km, 6,5km and 13,5km brings riders towards the highest point on the course at an elevation of 900m above the sea. The finish is back in the valley after a long downhill.
The final stage has again a neutralized start from Paphos and is shorter with its 59km but also counts a 12km climb towards 780m above the sea to finish after a second shorter climb.
On day 2 and 3, there is also a shorter mediofondo distance for men over 60 and women over 50 counting respectively 89 and 50km as official qualifier distance.
Top 25% per age category qualifies for the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in August in Denmark.
